Pain influences us n we become aware about an unpleasant sensation. With the experience of pain our whole attention is taken up there, and our mind goes for a toss that why am I experiencing it…??
What did I do …?
Was there any of my actions that had caused it? or
Was it due to something that is not under my control? But question is when intensity of pain in any part of body rises…we lose our focus on things that we have to do…
This thing may irritate someone or may case someone feel helpless…
Till the time we happen to go to doctor our whole attitude at home has changed…we either become very silent, or impatient or irritable…our way of dealing with it is absolutely unique. Someone may feel better by holding the part tightly, or someone is better by rubbing the painful part.. for someone touch is intolerable…
When pain phenomena physiologically is same but our threshold of sustaining it differs. We react to it,or we see how could this unpleasant sensation go away,,,
Our mind finds it way of dealing with it, reflected through our emotions of uncertainty, or fear, or intolerance n so on…we may feel pity about ourselves about how much the pains hurt us. This pain introduces us to our ownself that undergoes a change due to unpleasant sensation. This changed demeanor of ourself is the one who remains at backdrop of our Nature.
Watching this backdrop as part of our own self is a realization of accepting our self as a person who has this unpleasant self too. We are package in ourself of the pleasant and unpleasant things. The moment this awareness comes, we become more objective about things. Our acceptance levels go up, our adaptability to change is exercised, we become more compassionate too…as we know what is it to have pain.
As a homeopath I need to understand the pain from all dimensions. It’s a journey to understand pain with the person undergoing it. This journey is most healing when done with non-judgmental stance.
Thus, I really wonder if pain is boon or a curse!
